A special course that includes an engaging lecture and a boxed lunch.
A presentation and conversation about the African origins of UNCG's Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, known to the Egyptians as 'Neith' and the Greeks as 'Athena.' Dr. Ali presents the archeological and historical evidence that points to the origins and evolution of this creator deity starting at Sais in the Nile delta as part of a richly connected ancient Mediterranean world.

To receive a refund, a written request must be received 3 business days before the first class. A $25 processing fee will be deducted from the refund. Cancellation requests received less than 3 business days before the first class but before the second meeting will receive a 50% refund. Dr. Omar H. Ali is a historian and ethnographer of Africa and the global African Diaspora. He received his Ph.D. in History from Columbia University and is the author of over half a dozen books. With classical philologist Rebecca Muich, his latest book is Africans in the Ancient Mediterranean World, to be published in 2026.
